# GitBook vs Mintlify vs Cloudflare Pages for small teams

How Documarium, GitBook, Mintlify and Cloudflare Pages compare for a small team that keeps a docs site current, with every fact linked and dated.

Prepared by Documarium. Facts checked 2026-10-16. This page is for a small team where not everyone who keeps the published docs up to date works in code. Each product's prices are on its own pricing page, linked below, and compared side by side in [GitBook vs Mintlify pricing for a small team](https://docs.documarium.com/benchmarking/pricing/).

## Which should you choose?

- Choose Documarium if the people who keep your docs current already use Claude and would rather stay there than learn a new editor [1][2].
- Choose GitBook if you want a visual editor in the browser, sign-in through Google (SAML on Enterprise), or a separate reviewer role. Every member is billed [5][6].
- Choose Mintlify if your docs are files kept on GitHub or GitLab and you want a browser editor on top. Its free plan includes your own address [10][13].
- Choose Cloudflare Pages if everyone who edits can change files in your code on GitHub or GitLab. It has no charge for each person [16][17].

## At a glance

| Criterion | Documarium | GitBook | Mintlify | Cloudflare Pages |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What each editor needs | Their own Claude account; more than one editor needs Team or above [1] | A GitBook member account [5][6] | A Mintlify editor seat [10] | Access to the code on GitHub or GitLab, or upload through Cloudflare's command-line tool [17] |
| How people edit | By asking their own Claude in ordinary words [1][2] | A visual editor in the browser, an AI writing agent, files synced with GitHub or GitLab, or Claude and other AI tools through GitBook's MCP server [5][9] | A browser editor backed by files on GitHub or GitLab, or those files directly [10][15] | By changing files in your code, which rebuilds the site [17][19] |
| Review before readers see it | Every change arrives as a proposed change with a preview link, and nothing publishes until someone applies it [1] | Change requests on every plan; formal review and approval on paid plans [5][7] | Request a review, then publish; preview links on Pro and up [13][14] | A preview address for each proposed change, reviewed on GitHub or GitLab [17][19] |
| Undo and history | Every version kept for as long as the site exists; how far back you can see and put back depends on the plan [1][2] | History with rollback to any earlier version on every plan [5][7] | Page history in the editor; instant rollback on Enterprise only [10][15] | Rollback to any earlier successful production build [20] |

### Hosting, people and support

| Criterion | Documarium | GitBook | Mintlify | Cloudflare Pages |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Where it is hosted | Hosted by Documarium; an export is your content, not a working website [2] | Hosted by GitBook; self-hosting the published site is possible but unsupported [5] | Hosted by Mintlify; self-hosting on Enterprise only [10] | Cloudflare's network, from your own files [16] |
| Permissions | How many editors a site has, and section permissions, depend on the plan, as the pricing page shows [1] | Seven roles; reviewer and commenter roles on paid plans [5][6] | Viewer, editor and admin roles on Enterprise only [12] | Cloudflare account roles, plus access to your code [18][24] |
| How the price grows with people | A flat price per plan, with any number of editors on Team and up [1] | A fee per site plus a charge for every member, readers included [5][6] | A free plan with a set number of editor seats, then a flat plan with any number of editors [10] | No charge for each person [16] |
| Your own web address | On Solo and up; Documarium issues and renews the certificate [1][4] | On paid plans [5] | On every plan, including free [10] | On every plan; an address with nothing in front must use Cloudflare's own DNS [18][21] |
| Single sign-on | None; you sign in with an emailed link [1][2] | Google or email-domain sign-in on every plan; SAML on Enterprise [5] | On Enterprise only [10] | Dashboard single sign-on, free on every plan [23] |
| Taking your content out | Every page as plain text files, with the page order and a list of every saved version, on any plan [2][3] | Synced files on GitHub or GitLab on every plan; PDF export on paid plans [5][9] | Your files on GitHub or GitLab on every plan; PDF and static-site export on Enterprise [10][25] | Your content is already your own files [17] |
| Support | Email, read by a person; hours Not published (checked 2026-10-16) [2] | Email or in-app, aiming at one business day, on weekdays [8] | Slack support and a customer success contact on Enterprise [10]; other plans Not published (checked 2026-10-16) | Community forum on Free; support cases on paid plans [22] |

## Documarium

Documarium is a hosted docs site that each editor changes from their own Claude account [1]. Every change arrives as a proposed change with a preview link, and nothing is published until someone applies it [1]. It has no single sign-on, and nothing for teams that do not use Claude [1]. Plans are on the [Documarium pricing page](https://documarium.com/?utm_source=docs&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=C005&utm_content=PG-2026W44-003#pricing).

## GitBook

GitBook is a hosted docs platform with a visual editor, an AI writing agent and two-way sync with GitHub or GitLab [5][9]. Every member counts toward the bill, whatever their role [6]. Its reader-facing AI features, such as Assistant and translations, use AI credits [5][26]. Prices are on [GitBook's pricing page](https://www.gitbook.com/pricing). For a closer look, see [A GitBook alternative for a small team](https://docs.documarium.com/benchmarking/gitbook-alternative/).

## Mintlify

Mintlify keeps your docs as files on GitHub or GitLab, with a browser editor on top [10][15]. Its free plan includes your own web address [10]. Its Pro plan adds an AI writing agent and a monthly allowance of AI credits, with a charge for use above it [10]. Prices are on [Mintlify's pricing page](https://www.mintlify.com/pricing). For a closer look, see [A Mintlify alternative for a small team](https://docs.documarium.com/benchmarking/mintlify-alternative/).

## Cloudflare Pages

Cloudflare Pages hosts a site built from your own files, with no charge for each person [16]. Someone changes the files in your code on GitHub or GitLab, and the site rebuilds [17]. Each proposed change gets its own preview address, which anyone can open unless you lock it [19]. Plans are on [Cloudflare's Pages page](https://pages.cloudflare.com/). For running a framework such as Docusaurus on your own host, see [A docs site without a repo or a deploy](https://docs.documarium.com/benchmarking/docs-without-a-repo/).

## How we compared

We compared the four products for one situation: a small team where not everyone who keeps the published docs up to date works in code. We used five of our six standard criteria: what each editor needs, where it is hosted, permissions, export and support. We left out limits, because they are numbers that differ by plan and change. We added how people edit, review, history, your own address, single sign-on and how the price grows with people. Every fact comes from each product's own public pages, read on 2026-10-16. Nothing was tested by hand. Where a product's pages say nothing, the cell says so with the date we checked. Prices are left out of this page. Documarium, GitBook and Mintlify prices, checked 2026-11-03, are compared in [GitBook vs Mintlify pricing for a small team](https://docs.documarium.com/benchmarking/pricing/); each product's pricing page is linked above.
