# Getting started

Go from what you already have to a preview of your docs site, then keep it, change it and publish it, all by asking Claude.

Documarium hosts your product's public documentation site. You do the work in Claude, in the window you already write in. There is no separate app to learn, and nothing to install.

## Before you begin

- **A Claude account.** The [installation guide](https://docs.documarium.com/getting-started/installation/) lists which plans work.
- **Claude on the web or the desktop app**, for the first step. You cannot add Documarium on a phone, but once it is added it works on your phone too.
- **Something to start from**: your code on GitHub, docs already online, your product's web page, a file, or pasted text. If you have nothing yet, Claude asks you a few questions instead.

You do not need a Documarium account to make your first preview.

## Make your first preview

1. Open [documarium.com/start](https://documarium.com/start?utm_source=docs&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=C005&utm_content=PG-2026W44-004) and choose what you are starting from.
2. Fill in the details it asks for, choose which pages you want and choose your site's languages.
3. Add Documarium to Claude. The [installation guide](https://docs.documarium.com/getting-started/installation/) shows each step.
4. Copy the prompt the start page gives you and paste it into Claude.

Claude reads your source, drafts the pages and gives you a link to a preview of your site. A preview made without an account is shown for 48 hours. Anyone who has the link can open it, and search engines are asked not to list it, so put nothing private in it.

## Keep it, change it, publish it

Your site is always in one of three states: a preview, which anyone with the link can open for 48 hours; a draft, kept in your account; or live, on the web for readers.

- **Keep it.** Ask Claude to keep the preview under a name, for example *Keep this preview as acme*. It becomes a draft in your account: free, and it never expires. It will be at acme.documarium.com once you publish it. Keeping a preview confirms the content is yours, or that you may publish it.
- **Change it.** Ask in ordinary words, for example *Change the refund window to 30 days*. Claude drafts the change and gives you a link to look at it first. Say *Yes, apply that* to save it.
- **Publish it.** Ask *Publish Acme Docs* when it is ready. Publishing needs a plan, which the site's owner picks from the dashboard.

Nothing is published until you say so, and every saved version is kept for as long as the site exists.
