# Host your terms and privacy policy

Host your terms of service and privacy policy at one public address you can link to, with every version kept and each change previewed before it goes live.

Most products need a few public pages that are not product docs at all: terms of service, a privacy policy, often a cookie policy and a refunds page. This guide covers what those pages need in practice once they are written, and how to keep them published and versioned on Documarium by asking Claude.

This page is about hosting your pages, not about what they should say. The legal pages Claude drafts are a starting point; Documarium publishes and versions them, does not check them, and hosting a page here changes nothing about what it means in law. Have a lawyer review what your pages say.

## What these pages need in practice

- **A stable public address.** You link to your terms and privacy policy from your app, your sign-up form, your emails and, for many apps, an app-store listing. Pick the address once and keep it, so none of those links breaks when the text changes.
- **A record of what changed and when.** When a customer asks which terms they agreed to, or you want to tell people what changed, it helps to have the earlier wording and the date it changed, not only today's page.
- **One place where each fact is stated the same way.** The refund window, the support address or the company name often appears on the terms, the refunds page, the FAQ and the pricing notes. When it changes, every one of those passages has to change with it.

## Set them up on Documarium

1. Open [documarium.com/start](https://documarium.com/start?utm_source=docs&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=C005&utm_content=PG-2026W44-006) and choose what you are starting from, for example *Landing page* (your product's web page) or notes you paste in.
2. Under **Choose which pages Claude writes**, pick the legal pages you need: **Privacy policy**, **Terms of service**, **Cookie policy**, **Refunds and cancellation**, and others such as **Acceptable use**, **Complaints policy** or **Sub-processors**.
3. Choose **Copy prompt and open Claude**, then paste the prompt into Claude. Claude reads your source, drafts the pages and hands you a preview link. Anyone with the link can open the preview while it lasts; it isn't private.
4. Keep the preview as a draft in your account, as [Keep a preview as a draft](https://docs.documarium.com/guides/keep-a-preview/) explains. A draft is free and never expires, and readers can't see it until you publish.
5. Have a lawyer review the drafts, and ask Claude to make the changes they ask for.
6. Pick a plan and ask Claude to publish. Write for free. Pay when you publish. Every plan and its price is on the [pricing page](https://documarium.com/?utm_source=docs&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=C005&utm_content=PG-2026W44-006#pricing).

If you already have terms and a privacy policy, start from the page that holds them or paste the text in, so Claude works from your wording rather than drafting new pages.

Starter publishes on a documarium.com address. To serve the pages at your own address, such as docs.yourcompany.com, you need Solo or a larger plan; see [Use your own web address](https://docs.documarium.com/guides/custom-domain/).

## Keep them current by asking

| You ask | What happens |
|---|---|
| *Find every mention of the refund window.* | Claude lists each page and passage that states it, so you can change them together. See [Find every mention of a fact](https://docs.documarium.com/guides/find-every-mention/). |
| *Change the refund window on every page that mentions it.* | Claude drafts the change and gives you a link to look at it first. Nothing changes until you say so. |
| *Yes, apply that.* | The change is saved as a new version. |
| *Publish the site.* | Your saved changes go live for readers. Publishing needs a plan. |
| *What changed on this site?* | Claude lists each saved version, with its number, when it was saved and who saved it. |
| *Compare version 4 with version 7.* | Claude shows the difference between two saved versions. |
| *Put it back the way it was at version 4.* | Claude puts the site back to that version; the later versions stay in the history. If readers still see the newer version, publish again. See [Undo a change](https://docs.documarium.com/guides/undo-a-change/). |

Every version is kept for as long as the site exists. Your plan limits only how far back you can look and undo: Starter and Solo show the most recent versions, Team and above show every one, as the [pricing page](https://documarium.com/?utm_source=docs&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=C005&utm_content=PG-2026W44-006#pricing) shows.

Finding the passages is the search. Reading them side by side and deciding what each should say is yours to do, with Claude's help and your lawyer's.

## What Documarium does not do

- **It does not decide what your terms say.** The legal pages Claude drafts from your source are a starting point, and Documarium does not check them; it stores, versions and publishes them.
- **It does not check what you publish.** You are responsible for what your pages say, including anything Claude wrote for you, as the [terms of service](https://docs.documarium.com/policies/terms/) explain.
- **Hosting changes nothing in law.** A policy means the same here as anywhere else. A lawyer decides whether your pages say what they need to.

## Questions

**Can I take my policies out?** Yes. The site's owner exports every page as plain text files from **Export** in the sidebar, on every plan, including after you stop paying. See [Download all your content](https://docs.documarium.com/guides/export/).

**What happens to the pages if I stop paying?** When a paid plan ends, the site goes offline at the end of the period you paid for; nothing is deleted, and it comes back when you pick a plan.

**Can I put product docs on the same site?** Yes. The same start page drafts Getting started, how-to guides, an FAQ and more beside your legal pages, so a fact like the refund window can be found across all of them.
