# Write and publish your docs site from Claude

Add the Documarium connector to Claude to write, preview, change and publish your public docs site by asking. Write for free. Pay when you publish.

With the connector added, Claude reads your pages, finds every place a fact is stated, drafts a change you look at first, publishes it, and puts it back if you change your mind. There is no separate app to write in, and nothing to install.

This page explains what the connector does, what you need and what to ask. To add it now, follow [Add to Claude](https://docs.documarium.com/getting-started/installation/).

## What you need

- **A Claude account.** [Add to Claude](https://docs.documarium.com/getting-started/installation/) lists which plans work.
- **Claude on the web or the desktop app**, to add the connector the first time. After that it works everywhere you use Claude, phones included.
- **Something to start from**, if you have no site yet: your code on GitHub, docs already online, your product's web page, a file or pasted notes.

You do not need a Documarium account to make your first preview.

## What Claude can do with your docs

| You ask | What happens |
|---|---|
| *List the pages on my site.* | Claude lists every page, its title, its address and when it last changed. |
| *Read the refunds page.* | Claude reads that page as it stands now. |
| *Find every mention of the refund window.* | Claude lists each page and passage that states it, so you can change them together. |
| *Change the refund window to 30 days everywhere.* | Claude drafts the change and gives you a link to look at it first. Nothing changes until you say so. |
| *Yes, apply that.* | The change is saved as a new version. |
| *Publish the site.* | Your saved changes go live for readers. Publishing needs a plan. |
| *Put the site back the way it was before my last change.* | Claude puts the site back to an earlier saved version; the later versions stay in the history. If readers still see the newer version, publish again. How far back you can go depends on your plan. |

## A first session, start to finish

1. Open [documarium.com/start](https://documarium.com/start?utm_source=docs&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=C005&utm_content=PG-2026W44-002), choose what you are starting from and copy the prompt it gives you.
2. [Add the connector to Claude](https://docs.documarium.com/getting-started/installation/) and paste the prompt.
3. Claude reads your source, drafts the pages and hands you a preview link. Anyone with the link can open it while it lasts, so put nothing private in it.
4. Ask Claude to keep the preview under a name, and sign in with your email address when asked. It becomes a draft in your account: free, and it never expires.
5. Change pages by asking. Each change comes back as a proposed change with a preview link.
6. When it is ready, pick a plan and ask Claude to publish.

## What it does not do

Documarium does not write your docs for you: Claude drafts the pages, and Documarium stores, versions and publishes them. Documarium buys no inference, so there's no credit balance to run down and no AI upsell waiting at the top of your usage. Your own Claude plan's limits still apply. There is no single sign-on, and nothing for teams that do not use Claude.

## When something else fits better

- If you want an interactive API reference with a "try it" console or OpenAPI import, a tool built for API references fits better. Documarium hosts written pages.
- If your docs live in your code repository, see [A docs site without a repo or a deploy](https://docs.documarium.com/benchmarking/docs-without-a-repo/) and [how the alternatives compare](https://docs.documarium.com/benchmarking/).

## Questions

**Is Documarium made by Anthropic?** No. Documarium is an independent product that connects to Claude the way any other connector does. Anthropic doesn't make it, endorse it or support it; Claude is Anthropic's trademark. If Anthropic changes how connectors work, your content is still yours — it exports as clean markdown on every plan.

**Can I take my content out?** Yes. The site's owner exports every page as plain text files from **Export** in the sidebar, on every plan, including after you stop paying. See [Download all your content](https://docs.documarium.com/guides/export/).
