Write articles beside your docs

Turn on Articles to add long reads, such as comparisons, guides and news, beside your Documarium docs, and publish them when they look right.

Articles is a section of its own, so your docs sidebar stays short and about the product. An article is any page whose address starts with /articles/, for example /articles/pricing-compared.

Applies to: any Documarium site, from the dashboard or from Claude.

Before you begin

  • Be the site's owner. Only the owner can turn Articles on or off.
  • Know which pages read like articles. If they already sit together under one address, such as /blog, you can move the whole group in one go.

Steps

Turn it on in the dashboard

  1. Open your site in the dashboard. In its Settings card, choose Articles.
  2. On the Articles page, under Move pages into Articles, tick any group of pages that holds articles. You can also tick none and move pages later. Moved pages keep their old addresses working. If your site has no groups, the page says so, and you can move pages later by asking Claude.
  3. Choose Turn on Articles. The page then reads Articles is on and "Not published yet. Readers see it when you publish."

Or ask Claude

  1. In Claude, ask: Turn on Articles for Acme Docs, using your site's name.
  2. Claude tells you that readers won't see anything yet, and offers to move pages that read like articles under /articles. Moved pages keep their old addresses. Claude shows you each change first, and keeps it when you approve it, as Change a page and approve it explains.
  3. To write a new article, ask Claude for a page under /articles, for example Write an article at /articles/pricing-compared. Without a date of its own, an article shows the day it last changed.
  4. To check, look at the Settings card on your site's dashboard: the Articles row reads "On · not published yet".

Look at it, then publish

  1. Open Preview on your site's dashboard to see Articles as readers will.
  2. Change anything you like, in the preview or by asking Claude.
  3. Publish when you're happy. On a site that is already live, the overview's publish card lists "Articles turned on", how many pages moved into it, and your other unpublished edits. Choose Publish the edits. In the preview, the band's button reads Publish the new look when the look is the only change. A site's first publish needs a plan, as Publish your site explains.

Every look change waits for you to publish: the theme, Articles, the main colour, the typeface, the header links, the logo and the icon.

Leave the preview without publishing

Back does not undo Articles, which has its own page. On a live site with another look change waiting, such as a new theme, Back in the preview asks first. Choose Undo and go back to return to the look you last published, or Keep editing to stay.

Result

Readers see a Docs | Articles switch at the top of the sidebar. On a phone, it sits under the header and at the top of the menu. Under Articles, the articles are listed newest first, each with its date and reading time.

Turn Articles off

  1. Open the Articles page again from the Settings card and choose Turn off Articles.
  2. It asks first: "Articles go back to the docs sidebar. Pages you moved keep their new addresses. Readers see the change when you publish." Choose Turn off Articles to confirm, or Keep it.
  3. Publish to show readers the change. If Articles was never published, readers never see it.
